March 25th: Thanks to Peter and Sandra for sending us these excellent local pictures. The goat was in the Valley of Rocks, the tree and barn taken from above were at Countisbury and the horse was in a field at Oare. We will put larger versions on the Gallery page, and in reception.

March 21st: The area around Porlock Weir, Bossington and Selworthy is well worth visiting, and today we did the walk along the stretch of coast starting at the National Trust car park at Bossington (near Kitnors tea garden). Although it is possible to get along the stony beach all the way to Porlock Weir when the tide is low, it is probably best to join the path through the salt marshes, which is actually part of the South West Coastal Path. It is three miles to Porlock Weir, totally flat, but very interesting scenery. Coincidentally, when we arrived there was a beer festival on (Weirfest). Morris Dancers and over fifty real ales to choose from. It would have been rude not to try a couple! On the way back we came across the memorial stone which marks the spot where an American B24D liberator bomber crashed in 1942, and commemorates the American airmen killed.

March 15th: An old path has been cleared along the stream that leads to the Lee Abbey tea gardens. This means that by walking over Southcliffe it is possible to make a circular walk incorporating the tea gardens then back up through the Valley of Rocks to home. Although the tea gardens are not open yet, we did the walk yesterday to test it and to write out the directions, which we have printed. We now need some brave guests to try following our instructions.
