We now stock a small selection of the excellent local maps produced by Croyde Cycles. These maps are just the right size for taking with you on small walks, less cumbersome than OS maps, yet still showing plenty ot detail. The Lynton and Lynmouth map is our most useful, covering Foreland to Lee Bay and inland to Watersmeet. We also have some of the areas either site of us covering Porlock and Hunter's Inn. Just when we thought we knew all the possible variations on the walk to Watersmeet we find another! Today we started with everybody's favourite path along the river, and after visiting the National Trust site we took the path towards Countisbury. At the Blue Ball it is possible to join the Coastal Path, which we had intended doing, but today was too foggy to get the lovely views back towards Lynmouth, so we stayed inland slightly and took a path which was new to us, over Beacon Tor. The views from the top must be wonderful so we intend to do the walk again on a clearer day. We did manage to get a reasonable picture of a Dipper today, which is never easy.
It's great to be open again after our winter holiday/decorating break. We will try to keep this page up to date with any new walks we do or hear about, and report anything interesting that happens here or in the area. Although much of what we mention here will be familiar to our regular guests (favourite walks, regular events, etc) we hope people who have never been to Lynton and Lynmouth before will find it useful. As usual at the beginning of the season, Sue had a delivery of granola ingredients today. The oats, coconut, pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds, cranberries, brazil nuts and almonds pictured on the right will make enough of Sue's breakfast granola for about half the season!
