30th September:
Several of our guests have made the most of the lovely weather recently and tried the boat trip from Lynmouth to Woody Bay. The trip only operates when the conditions are suitable (probably not many more times this season). The trip is always popular and provides interesting views of Lynmouth, North Walk, the Valley of Rocks and Woody Bay. One for next year perhaps! Thanks to Stephanie and Chris for the lovely pictures.

25th September:
We discovered an excellent new place for a cream tea yesterday in Lynton . . . unfortunately it will only be available for the next few weeks, then we will have to wait until next year. We should have tried it sooner! We will happily recommend it and give directions for the next few weeks (and maybe visit again ourselves).

21st September:
The lovely weather helped a good turnout for the Doone Run today. The annual event takes a 10-mile course from Lynmouth to Watersmeet, Hillsford Bridge, Summerhouse Hill, Southcliffe, Lee Abbey, North Walk and back to Lynmouth. Thanks to our guest Kerry for the excellent pictures of the run, and loads of other pictures of the area, including the spectacular pictures of the Valley of Rocks below showing off the Autumn colours.

14th September:
We did the popular walk to Watersmeet via Summerhouse Hill yesterday. We have the directions to this walk printed in the lounge, so it was good to check that all the signposts still exist (they didn't). There are so many possible variations to this walk, but we extended it slightly by going back over Countisbury rather than along the river to Lynmouth. Watersmeet is open until the 2nd November this year.
8th September:
Stage 3 of the Tour of Britain brings it through Exmoor again tomorrow. The stage covers an area from Chard to Burnham-on-Sea, and comes through South Molton at 12.10, North Molton Ridge at 12.30, Exfod (where our guests are going to watch it) at 12.45 and Dunster at 1.15.
4th September:
We are often asked if it is possible to hire bikes in the area. We recommend the cycle hire shop in Fremington, which is perfect for cycling on the Tarka Trail running from Braunton to Torrington. However, today we were emailed about a new cycle hire shop on the high street in Porlock. Jenny and Mike of Porlock Cycle Hire aim to cater for the increasing number of visitors coming to Exmoor for activity holidays, making the most of the newly launched Exmoor Cycle Route. We must pop in and get some flyers, espeically as they are handily placed next to the Home Cook Cafe, which we have heard is nice too!
